 Kamala Beach, a quiet stretch of sand just north of Patong, is a much favoured destination for those who are looking for a tropical escape away from the crowds. Surrounded by deep forested hills, this well-enclosed bay and fishing village is easily one of the most beautiful places in Phuket. It is little wonder then Kamala attracts a huge number of visitors who set base here to soak in the tranquillity and beautiful views of the surroundings, and explore the rest of the island.

Kamala Beach offers a wide range of accommodations catering to all tastes and budgets. The many hotels located here offer great views of Kamala bay and the surrounding green hills. Kamala Beach is home to Thailand's most outstanding entertainment facility, Phuket FantaSea. All hotels are within convenient distance from the beach.
The stunning white sandy beach is perfect for sun bathing and people watching. If you are looking for something more active, you can snorkel at the north end. The waters are calm from November to April if you care for a swim but you may encounter huge waves during the South West monsoon months of May to October. Jet skiing and parasailing facilities are available during the high season and often during the low season. Besides, you can rent a long tail boat and head out to explore the neighboring beaches of Laem Singh and Surin Beach. Sun beds are easily available as also snacks and drinks sold by the vendors.
Kamala Beach is a great place to sample great sea food as well as local and international cuisine in casual settings. If you are on the beach, you don't have to venture far during the day time. There are a handful of permanent vendors selling food and drinks across the road from Kamala School at very reasonable prices. If you want to dine outside the hotel you are staying in, you can head toward the direction of Patong, where you will find a few Thai restaurants serving specialties such as grilled chicken, sticky rice and papaya salad. 
Kamala beach is ideal for those who want to spend precious moments away from the crowds. Take in the stunning views of the sun setting in the distant horizon and leaving its footprints in the water. Enjoy long solitary walks under the starlit sky or stroll through the seaside village taking in the local flavors. There are a number of beachside bars where you can savoir your drink and watch the fishermen come in with their daily catch. During the high season, many vendors set up their stalls on the beach from where you can shop for souvenirs. However, if you want a change from the solitude, head for the Patong beach, whose exotic nightlife needs no introduction.
